1. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) celebrated its 93rd Foundation Day virtually on 16 July 2021. As part of the celebration, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar announced awards in various categories.
2. The Parliament of Pakistan has passed a bill to provide legal aid in international criminal cases as part of efforts to meet the conditions laid down by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). The bill is called the Mutual Legal Assistance (Criminal Affairs) Amendment Bill.
3. An international collaboration of astronomers has identified a curious phenomenon of nine star-like objects that appeared and disappeared in a small area in an old photographic plate within half an hour. Scientists from Sweden, Spain, USA, Ukraine and India, including Dr. Alok C. Gupta, conducted the investigation.
4. An automated technology has been developed for collection of toilet waste, which is easy to maintain and is 7 times cheaper alternative to bio-toilets. It can be used to maintain the toilet system of Indian Railways.
5. World International Day of Justice is celebrated every year on 17th July across the world. It symbolizes an emerging modern system of justice against international criminal acts.
6. India will see its first pod taxi operating between Noida Airport and Noida Film City. Pod taxis have been a popular mode of transport in many Western countries and can accommodate four to six passengers per car.
7. National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company Limited (NCGTC) has issued operational guidelines for the Rs 50,000 crore credit guarantee scheme.
8. IBM Corp in partnership with NASSCOM Foundation has skilled around 5,000 underserved youth in data science and cloud computing from Karnataka, Telangana and Delhi-NCR. As part of the IBM SkillsBuild career preparation program, the duo worked with 23 colleges to certify students enrolled in IBM-certified courses on emerging technologies in 2019.
9. Web Works, one of the independent data center providers of India has signed an MoU with the Government of Karnataka. It will set up a data center At @Bangalore.
10. Reliance Retail Ventures Limited (RRVL), the retail arm of Reliance Industries, is acquiring a majority stake in local search company Just Dial for Rs 3,497 crore.
